Cantata is a small CKC registered breeding program with a focus on quality dogs over quantity. The Cavalier has captured our hearts and we make every effort to breed responsibly and preserve them for generations to come. Each breeding is carefully selected with the hopes of producing sound and healthy puppies with the temperament we all know and love.
Please know that we do not simply add names to a waitlist. We prefer to place puppies to their best match and not on a first come, first serve basis. Please expect to tell us about you and why the Cavalier is the right fit for you and your needs. The more information we know about a particular family, the easier it is for us to determine whether we have the right puppy for someone. Occasionally we may have a puppy available in the metro region of St. John's who can be placed as a pet but may be on a special agreement with us to be shown, health tested and potentially used in our breeding program. If you are interested in learning more about this arrangement and what it entails, please make sure to let us know.
Our dogs are tested for:
- Dry Eye, Curly Coat, Episodic Falling. MCADD and we have begun testing for the MMVD NEBL Wild gene. - Chiari Malformation and Syringomyelia - Mitral Valve Disease using the Danish protocol. - Eyes - Luxating Patellas
We are always happy to chat and answer questions about our dogs and program. If you aren't sure if the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is the right fit for your family, we are happy to tell you more about them. Education for prospective families and those just learning about the breed is so important. We would be more than happy to share what we know about this wonderful breed and answer your questions too. We can be contacted at [email protected]
Please not that we will not ship puppies under any circumstances. Out of province homes are required to fly to Newfoundland and pick up their puppy.
