We are a small breeding program and do not always have them available. You should expect to have to wait anywhere from 1-2 years for a well bred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in Canada but this can depend on many factors such as personality of the puppy, how many in a litter, and your own preferences.
2. What is the process to get on your waitlist? We don't use a wait list system as we prefer to get to know potential families and make decisions from there. Please see our other page which describes our process. You should expect that in order to be considered that you will maintain contact with us and let us get to know you. 3. Is a Cavalier suitable for young children?
Cavaliers are a gentle breed and very loving. However, they are a toy breed and are easily injured as puppies. Any family with young children should consider if their children are ready to have such a small puppy in their home or whether it would be best to wait.
4. Why do Cavaliers cost so much?
Well bred dogs of any breed require significant amounts of health screening in order to be bred. There are expenses in health testing, titling the parents in sports such as Conformation, Obedience and Agility among others, in stud fees, and raising puppies. The cost of well-bred puppies reflects generations of this expense so you can have a happy healthy puppy. 5. What about Cavalier mixes? Or any mix? Would they be healthier ?
Not necessarily. There are plenty of people who say mixed breeds live longer or are healthier but this is not generally the case. Mixed breeds are simply a blend of two or more other dog breeds. Perhaps you win the genetic lottery and your puppy has nothing wrong with them. Perhaps not and you inherit the health problems of more than one breed on top of a mixed bag of conformation, coat type and temperament. This isn't to say a mixed breed is bad-quite the opposite and being a mixed breed does not take away from a puppy's cuteness, but it is an important point to consider when choosing the right dog for your family.
6. Do you ship puppies? Absolutely not. We do not ship puppies. All interested persons no matter where they live must be willing to fly to NL to pick up their puppy. We reserve the right to refuse any potential home one of our puppies.
